Voice Actor / Narrator

We're looking for voice actors, narrators, presenters and online teachers for a two-week conversational recording project. You bring the read and a good microphone. We supply the scripts.

About the role

You'll work through scripted sessions with another person, across a wide range of subjects. You don't need to be the subject matter expert, the scripts are supplied.

You're guiding someone, not reading to a microphone. Most of a session follows the script, but every so often the other person does something unexpected and you'll need to handle it without stopping.

The read is conversational rather than commercial. Clear, steady and natural, without the announcer cadence.

Plenty of people who have never called themselves a voice actor are a good fit. Online teaching and tutoring, live streaming, podcasting, presenting, MCing and hosting live sessions all build the same skill.

We train on what's said, not on how you sound. Your voice won't be cloned, and it won't be used to train a voice model. The conversations you record will be used for training.

What you'll do

Session recording

Work through the supplied scripts with another person. The material changes from session to session, and occasionally a session goes off-script.

Consistent delivery

Keep your setup and your read consistent across sessions.

Direction and retakes

Take direction on delivery, pacing and tone, and turn retakes around within the session.

Requirements

Delivery

A natural conversational read, not a commercial or announcer read.

Experience

Paid or semi-professional experience speaking to an audience. Voice acting, narration and dubbing, or online teaching and tutoring, live streaming, podcasting, presenting, MCing and hosting live sessions.

Microphone

A standalone USB or XLR microphone. Not a laptop, a phone, earbuds or a headset.

Room

A quiet space you can record in every session.

Software

You'll be driving our recording tool during sessions. You should be comfortable picking up new software without much hand-holding.

Availability

25 hours per week, across two weeks.

Language

English (American).

Device security

Work happens on a secure personal device.

Nice to have

Not required. Worth mentioning if it applies to you.

• Improv, roleplay or scene work.
• Experience in support, teaching or tutoring.
• Dialogue and two-person scenes rather than only single-voice narration.
• You can give several different reads of the same line without being told how.

Contract and payment

• You're engaged as an independent contractor for the length of the campaign.
• Fully remote, from any location, working in English.
• The fee is agreed before you start. We pay you directly, not through an agency.
• Campaigns can be extended, shortened or ended early depending on need and performance.
