How to make an individual information request

All individuals have a right to access or challenge the processing of their personal data being held and managed by an organisation. You exercise these rights by submitting an individual data request to Askable under one of the rights listed below:

  • The right to be informed, e.g. fair processing of information
  • The right to rectification, e.g. correcting your data
  • The right to erasure, e.g. deleting or removing your data
  • The right to restrict processing, e.g. stopping your data being used
  • The right to data portability, e.g. transferring your data easily
  • The right to object, e.g. challenging what we’re doing with your data
  • Rights in relation to automated decision-making and profiling, e.g. ensuring safeguards are in place so we don’t make potentially damaging decisions about you without any human involvement.

Your data is important to us so we want to make it straightforward for you to access it.

Can I update my personal information online?

Yes, if you need to change your personal details in your Askable Account such as, your name, date of birth or email address, you will need to log on to your account with your username and password. You will then be able to update your details and personal information.

How do I request access to my information?

Make a written or verbal request to Askable (verbal requests should be followed up in writing).

You will be asked to provide a copy of your photo ID - e.g. passport photo page, driving license, identity card.

This is to ensure we are sharing the data records with the right person.

How do I make a request?

The simplest way to make your request is via email, we will then need to Identify you.

What do I need to include in my request?

State clearly what you want - You might not need all of the personal data that we hold about you. Helping us identify what you need will enable us to obtain this more quickly and accurately.

Include the following information:

Your name and contact details.

Any details or relevant dates that will help us identify what you want  e.g. you may want to ask for:

Personal data to be updated with new details.

Do I need to pay for my request?

All subject access and individual rights requests are processed free of charge unless they are clearly baseless or excessive.

How long does Askable have to respond?

We will confirm we have received your request within 24 hours.  Allow 30 days for Askable to respond to basic requests for information, from the date we receive your fully completed request.

If a request for information is more complex, we may extend the processing time up to 45 Days  from the date of receipt.

How do I make a complaint?

If you believe Askable has dealt with your personal information in a way that is not consistent with the privacy principles, you have the right to make a complaint to us. You can make a privacy complaint at;

Please note: The Act allows a minimum period of 45 business days for an agency to respond to a privacy complaint.
