Ask AI now knows what people meant, not just what they said

Ask AI can tell which company, product or person a quote is about, even when the name isn’t in the quote itself. So the quotes that never named it come through alongside the ones that did, in summaries, when you ask, and when you filter.

What is this upgrade?

Ask AI now recognizes entities. It knows the specific things your participants name (companies, brands, products, tools, people) and picks up when someone is referring to one without directly naming it.

In practice, if a participant refers to a brand by a pronoun (like “they” or “it”) or a nickname (like HB for Halden Bank), that now counts as evidence about Halden Bank.

You can also see the working. Ask AI shows you what it matched your question to before you read the answer, and every summary names the brand, products and people behind it, with a hover to explain why each one was linked.

The same entities carry through the Askable MCP, too.

Why does it matter?

Ask AI works thematically. Ask about Halden Bank and it finds the places the name came up, which is fine for as long as people keep saying it.

They don’t. Someone names Halden once at the start of an interview and spends the next twenty minutes on “they,” “them” and “the app.” “Their app logged me out twice in a week.” “I gave up and went back to the other one.” Sitting in the interview, those are plainly about Halden. Pulled out on their own, nothing in them says so, and until now nothing brought them back.

The scale of it is the surprising part. About 70% of the time the name isn’t in the quote at all. That’s just how people speak. So if the search can only see the name, roughly seven in ten of the relevant things your participants told you never reached you.

Until now, the only thing attached to a piece of evidence was the words in it. Now each piece carries which companies, products, and people it concerns, which also makes filtering possible: you can narrow evidence to one entity and know you’re seeing all of it rather than only the parts that said the name.

How do I access this update?

Nothing to switch on. If your team has Ask AI, it’s already working across your interviews.
